Welcome back my friends!
So in the last post, which you can check out here, I talked about how my bodybuilding journey started out. In this post I want to talk about how I almost stopped working out for good.
For the first couple weeks, I would like to say that I was pretty excited just to be in the gym. The rush of walking into the gym and straight up crushing a workout was something I looked forward to.
Especially after a long day at school. For me it was becoming somewhat of an escape from all the countless hours of studying and being in a mindset of “Medicine this, Medicine that”
I enjoy it, but come on now, even the best of Doctors need a break every now and then.
Bodybuilding was that break for me. I don’t really go out and drink much or party or anything like that so this was kinda like my “drink after a long day”
If you are reading this and like to drink, you are probably saying “Come on man, there is no way working out is like having a drink”
And you might be right, but for me at least, it’s equal to that relaxation you might get from having that drink after a long day.
I know some people go into the gym and it’s more of a punishment for eating terrible.
This actually brings things full circle in how I almost stopped working out.
Like I have mentioned, in the beginning, I was excited beyond words. And when I started to see some results, THAT MADE THINGS EVEN BETTER!
but after awhile, the results somewhat stalled out.
This really hit me hard because I didn’t understand what I was doing wrong. I was being consistent in the gym. I was hitting all of my lifting goals. but for some reason, my weight wasn’t really going down the way I wanted it to.
I wanted to be shredded!
I figured as long as I keep putting in work in the gym, I would get there.
But after 3 months of not seeing any noticeable difference. I was ready to throw in the towel.
This is when with my last attempt to figure things out, I did some research online and came across this video of a guy talking about how he had dealt with the same issues I was dealing with.
He was lifting on a daily basis, being consistent in the gym, had seen some results in the beginning, but then came to a stall.
I remember watching it and literally thinking “THAT IS ME!”
But as I was watching it, I also thought to myself, “This dude is shredded, there is no way he EVER looked like me!”
He looked exactly like I wanted to look. What he did next would forever change my life and how I looked at fitness.
He put up his before picture right next to a photo he had taken that day.
I was speechless. This guy had come so far, but the question was how.
Once he said, I’m going to show you exactly how I did this with fully understanding my nutrition, I was hooked.
I was missing such a key piece to the puzzle. Nutrition!
In my next post tomorrow, I am going to tell you guys exactly what I learned that day, and how I was able to get over my slump and got shredded!
